It was a mind numbing weekend filled with binge drinking, snow storms (actual snow) and substance abuse in Oshkosh and when it comes to sports there wasn’t a whole lot of positives. I’m hungover, slightly medicated and running on five hours of sleep since Friday so bare with me folks.
Mets Take Two Out of Three From the Brewers
Zach Davies took one to the chin Friday as he gave up five runs in four and a third. He surrendered seven hits including a pair solo homers to Todd Frazier and was on the hook fro the L. I can proudly say I announced to the party that Braun was goin’ big fly in the sixth but the comeback came up just short as the Mets finished off the Crew 6-5. The one big bright spot on Friday was the Bullpen. Jennings, Drake and Barnes came together to give up two hits and a single run in relief as Perez led the team offensively going 2-4 with two RBI coming off of a home run in the fourth. The Mets sent Steven Matz out to the hill and he got the win going five and a third and giving up three earned. Todd Frazier paved the way for the Mets as he dropped dick on a pair of belt high fastballs. Frazier finished the day 3-3 with the two solo shots.
If your dick doesn’t wiggle even a little bit checking out the pitching box score from Saturday then your a liar and a fake fan. Chase Anderson started the day off lasting six and a third while scattering a pair of hits and striking out five. Jeremy Jeffress got the hold in two thirds of an inning of work and Josh Hader was given the keys to the eighth and ninth. Hader was DEALING striking out the first five batters he faced before forcing Jay Bruce to fly out to center while getting the six out save. It was all about the long ball for Milwaukee as Shaw, Bandy and Arcia all took their respective pitchers deep. Offensively, New York couldn’t seem to find the right pitch as they scattered three hits. Brewers take game two 5-1.
Noah Syndergard is fucking disgusting and shouldn’t be allowed to do this.
That was his 97 mph fastball boys and girls (lol as if any girls actually read this bullshit). Eric Thames’ reaction says it all. Twitter had a fuckin field day with this one as it blew up on all of the popular sports social accounts. My personal favorite is from Megan.
Internet gold my dear, love it. I didn’t get a chance to watch the game with the Bucks playing at the same time but it seems as though I didn’t miss a whole lot as the two teams combined for only 11 total hits and five total runs in a Mets walkoff 3-2 victory. Syndergard lasted five and a third but set down eleven Brewers on strikes. Although he didn’t get the decision, it was a dominant performance and if it were’t for the Mets offense taking a shit. They were going down in order for the last three innings until there were two outs left in the ninth for Wilmer Flores. Flores took a Matt Albers sinker up and out for the dub. Albers decided it was a great idea to feed Albers not one, not two, not three, but four sinkers in a row. Good fucking idea.
Not a bad series in hindsight for The Crew. Dropping two of three to a Mets team who has been boarder line perfect thus far this season. A pair of one run losses paired with a win is a good sign of things to come. Next up, Cincy.
Celtics Take Game 1 Despite Middleton Heroics
Man, ya hate to see it folks. Game one of the Bucks/Celtics series was a wild ride. After the end of the first the Bucks found themselves down 29-17 and were being completely outplayed. That quickly changed as the Bucks charged back, winning the second quarter by a score of 30-16. With the Bucks leading 47-45 at half things were looking good but as Wisconsin sports fans know, you can’t ever get complacent. Boston took back the lead in the third and headed to the fourth. In a back and forth fourth quarter we found the game tied after a Brogdon three with only ten seconds remaining in the game. On the ensuing drive Terry Rozier snatched Eric Bledsoe’s ankles with one of the nastiest step backs these peepers have ever seen.
The disrespect here is outrageous. Rozier should have to sit at least game two and three but I don’t see these sanctions being handed down. The TD Garden went silent just minutes later as the Bucks had .5 seconds left to put up a shot, inbounding 35 feet from the basket. Gus Johnson, take it away my dude.
What a fuckin’ electric factory. always the best from Gus. That shot was reviewed and confirmed and we were headed to OT. Going in the Bucks had foul trouble. Giannis had four as Middleton and Bledsoe had five. It ended up biting us in the ass as both of them ended up fouling out late as the Celtics ended up getting the win (and some calls) 113-107. There were some really questionable shots including an easily blockable drive from Brogdon and then Snell, who had five seconds on the shot clock, flung up a three that clanged off the iron. A questionable foul on Giannis was the end all be all as he fouled out with 13 seconds left down by three. Terry Rozier had the final five points at the line to put Milwaukee away in game one. Giannis finished the night with 35/13/7 with three steals. Middleton added 31 and Brogdon 16 as none of the other Bucks cracked double digits. The one stat that stood out to me was that Middleton was +11 and Snell was -17. Maybe less minutes for Tony next game. Jabari only saw 15 minutes in his playoff debut going one of five shooting but did grab four rebounds. Need more minutes from him. Game two is on deck for Tuesday in Boston.
